Fuchu Art Museum, Open Studio Program 78: Sachiko Kodama, “Pulsate - Melting Vision and Melting Moment, Rhythm in Motion”
April 25 - September 6, 2020

Sachiko Kodama links emerging natural phenomena with plastic art to create mixed media works that reference the relationship between organic form/motion and light/sound.
In the open studio program, the artist will create new light-based artwork that continues this theme. She will also feature the original “magnetic fluid sculptures” she has been producing since 2000. Magnetic fluid sculptures move while being affected by external factors, producing visually dynamic images with subtle changes that may be hard to detect. The factors that bring movement to the work will be revealed during the course of the four-month open studio. The title “Pulsate - Melting Vision and Melting Moment, Rhythm in Motion” reflects the manner in which the forms in the magnetic fluid and kinetic light lose their shape and melt, only to swell and reappear.
The museum is closed to prevent the spread of COVID-19, but the status of the works will
be posted on the following web site.
